November 18, 2019: The Rabbinical Alliance of America welcomes todays crucial statement and clarification by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo regarding Jewish settlements and communities situated on the West Bank of Israel.

Mr. Pompeo stated that the USA does not consider these communities — contested by Israel’s detractors — as being illegal according to international law and nor are they an impediment for achieving peace in the region.

For too long have these Jewish communities been subjected to economic and cultural, boycotts and sanctions, that threaten to stifle and throttle these thriving communities that bring life and renewal to these once barren and uninhabited areas. The Secretary of States announcement provides much needed clarity and encouragement to Israel’s supporters.

The Rabbinical Alliance applauds both President Trump and Secretary of State Pompeo, for clearly enunciating the fact that the United States of America repudiates all those who intentionally misconstrue true law and justice for political purposes, endeavoring to undermine the legitimacy of the Jewish communities in Israel’s West Bank.

The more than 950 Rabbis and Chaplains – members of the Rabbinical Alliance – serving throughout North America, appreciate profoundly the importance of law and justice being applied to all with equity and integrity.

The RAA decries the double standard being applied towards Jewish communities located within Judea and Samaria as being designated illegal according to International Law. On behalf of the RAA Presidium; Rabbi Yehoshua S. Hecht stated deep satisfaction and support for this crucial clarification by the Trump Administration that affect hundreds of thousands of Jewish inhabitants who dwell within Judea and Samaria.

We recognize that all who are in the forefront of BDS movement are guilty of being both deceptive and misleading says Hecht. The notion that Jews living within Judea and Samaria are illegitimate settlers comes from the hateful anti-Semitic entities active within the European Union. It is our fervent hope and prayer that harmony and peace for all in the region will arrive soon.

May the One who makes peace in His heavens make peace for us and all of Israel, Amen.
