In the aftermath of the terrible attack in New Orleans, the Jewish Federations of North America, the Secure Community Network, ADL, Community Security Initiative-NY, and the Community Security Service have all been in close coordination. As of this time, we are not aware of any specific threat to the Jewish community from this particular incident. All Jewish Federation community security programs are on alert, especially with regard to any large public gatherings that may be occurring associated with the holiday season or otherwise.  We encourage all organizations and institutions to review physical security plans and procedures in coordination with law enforcement and security/safety partners. [...Click headline above for more...]

AKO is the umbrella group that joins together all the major hashgachos and approved local and private hashgachos that meet their basic standards worldwide to collaborate.

AKO has various specialty committees with representatives of different hasgachos to discuss and coordinate on their inyan. The committee for commercial food industry mechiras chometz has been researching and verifying the information on this list for several months now.

This year there were some particular challenges and Rabbi Moshe Dovid Lebovitz really stepped up to help bring them to a successful conclusion.

Another major area of concern as discussed the recent Kav Halacha Pesach kashrus Panel is Whiskey and Schnapps from brands that do not have a hechsher.
