At the Jewish Chaplain’s conference held on January 25, 2024, as moderator, I began with hakaros hatov to the Ribono shel Olam for having made the conference possible. It takes a lot of emunah and especially betachon to truly feel that everything is Min HaShamayim. Chaplains, Rabbis and Rebbetzins have to have a lot of patience and understanding when a person is going through a challenging time in his or her life to feel a certain difficult situation is Min Hashamayim. Whether an appointment, a meeting, or a simcha was planned and has to be postponed due to the weather, or an unexpected circumstance, what can one do but accept it as best as possible. Unfortunately, not everyone is able to accept disappointments and that is where the chaplain, the rabbi or rebbetzin can play an important role in helping a person deal with those situations.
Let us be mispallel to the Ribono shel Olam to continue to be an inspiration and encouragement to all those who seek our advice and guidance as chaplains, rabbis and rebbetzins. To everyone, a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on when appropriate can be of tremendous help.
Sincerely, Rabbi Yehuda Blank
