Job Description
- Responsible for the overall management of the Chaplaincy Program and Clinical Pastoral Care Education
- Coordinates the education and direct pastoral services of chaplaincy interns, volunteers on site
- Schedules and conducts religious services; administers rites and sacraments
- Organizes and conducts accredited clinical pastoral educational programs
- Makes pastoral calls
- Counsels individuals and families on personal, moral and spiritual problems
- maintains liaison and cooperative relationships with social service agencies, other community and national chaplaincy educational organizations
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies
- Responsible for working with ACPE to reinstate our accreditation
- Working on meeting current chaplain staff and understanding the functions of the department
- Maintains appropriate student records including written evaluations and by each Clinical Pastoral Education student
- Supports the organization in preparations for Joint Commission as needed
- Promotes teamwork within the facility and in the community
- Coaches and counsels managers as needed; provides continuos feedback on performance and supplies appropriate developmental tools to assist in their individual growth
- Represents the corporation both professionally and ethically at all times
- Interfaces proactively with all departments to obtain best results for all concerned
- Acts as a positive role model
- Other tasks that may be assigned
Minimum Qualifications
1. A Baccalaureate Degree issued upon completion of a four-year course in an accredited college or university; and,
2. Four years of full time, professional experience in a health or social agency in a responsible administrative or supervisory capacity, of which two years experience is to be in community service and/or public relations; or,
3. A Masters Degree from an accredited college or university, and three years of professional experience; or,
4. A satisfactory combination of education, training and experience.
Department Preferences
- Education – Bachelor and/or degree in Theology/Divinity preferred
- Experience – 5 to 8 years supervisory experience in delivering Spiritual Care in hospital setting
- CPE Certified

2) Chaplaincy Position in Jewish Home at Rockleigh, in Rockleigh, NJ
Job Summary:
Looking for a caring, compassionate, attentive, innovative, progressive Jewish Chaplain to arrange and lead spiritual programming at the Jewish Home of Rockleigh.
The primary purpose of this full-time position is to ensure that comprehensive and meaningful spiritual, religious and personal, counseling and or guidance to residents, family members, and employees to ensure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times. Also, to conduct and/or coordinate religious services for residents of all faiths and provide innovative, holistic educational programs and in-services for residents and staff.
Duties:
- Plan develop, coordinate and conduct regularly scheduled religious and spiritual services and counseling, guidance programs for all residents, employees, family members, et of all denominations;
- Plan and maintain an ongoing visiting and welcome program for newly admitted residents;
- Review pastoral care programs/services, at least annually, to assure spiritual objectives are being met, and participate in making recommended changes
- Provide Shabbat services at 1 (once) a month;
- Conduct High Holiday services, lead Seder, blow shofar, read Megillah and Torah, lead Yizkor and other religious services;
- Develop and implement programs and services that are relevant and responsive to current events, needs, and other unusual circumstances.
- Fill in for the mashgiach when the regular mashgiach is not available
- Speak at civic functions and organizational meetings as required or invited
- Provide hospital visitation to residents.
- Conduct funeral and memorial services when necessary at NO CHARGE to the family,
- Serve on various committees of the facility as directed
- Solicit cooperation in program objectives by conferring with staff personnel on programs, services, etc.;
- Develop and maintain a good working rapport with personnel within the facility to assure that the religious programs and activities can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the residents;
- Coordinate pastoral care with other resident care programs and departments of the facility;
- Coordinate with other clergy/religious leaders regarding residents’ religious/spiritual needs.
- Act as a liaison between staff and residents’ family/friends during periods of crisis, adjustment, etc.
- Assist dying residents and their families to meet their needs, carry out their desires, preserve dignity, etc. through empathy, understanding, and cooperation
- Provide and participate in workshops, seminars, etc., to stay abreast of current changes in the health care field, as well to maintain a professional status.
Education Requirements:
Must be ordained (by a universally recognized rabbinical organization) Rabbi and/or mashgiach (rabbinical dietary supervisor) and possess an advanced degree in chaplaincy, counseling, or social work with a specialization in Geriatrics.
Minimum 5 years experience in the field of chaplaincy.
